Original Dusty Springfield Collage and Prints to be auctioned

Artist Uwe Nicholas Framenau has designed and created a stunning original art-piece which he has donated for auction at Dusty Day 2009.

Uwe, who is based in Berlin, had been contacted by Nancy J Young, an Administrator of the “Let’s Talk Dusty!” website and fan forum and as a result of their conversations, Uwe very generously agreed to supply an original art work for auction at the forthcoming tenth annual Dusty Day, which will take place on Sunday 19th April in Ealing, London. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Royal Marsden Hospital, where Dusty was treated for cancer prior to her death - a cause which has a special place in the hearts of a great many Dusty fans.

Speaking about how this collaboration came about, Nancy noted -

“By chance I met an artist from Berlin on myspace.  We must have had a friend in common--probably Marlene Dietrich.  I admired his work--especially his tributes to iconic figures-- so on a lark I asked him to create a unique Dusty collage for auction at Dusty Day.

He was thrilled with the opportunity, being a big fan of Dusty himself.  I had fun bombarding his inbox with JPEGs.  The result is more stunning than I could have imagined--and I think he captures some of Dusty's humour as well.”

The art piece, measuring 60x30cm, is a collage of various images of Dusty, hand made and varnished, and forming a single artwork. It presents Dusty, the songstress, in many of her most iconic images, primarily from the Sixties. The result is a very striking piece and one which is bound to raise a great deal of interest.

And as though that were not more than enough, Uwe is also supplying three original acrylic paintings of Dusty, measuring 30x24cm, which will also be auctioned at Dusty Day.

Once these original pieces have been auctioned, prints will be available directly from Uwe’s website.

He writes -

“I hope so much the originals will get you some good money! The Royal Marsden is such a great hospital, it would be so wonderful to help them!”

“Let’s Talk Dusty!” would like to thank Uwe for his very generous donation, which is deeply appreciated.
